The 18th line infantry half-brigade is formed in
1796 from the 45th, 69th and 211st battle half-brigades. Titled
"18th line infantry regiment" in 1803. During the napoleonic era
the regiment was under command of :
- 1801: Chef de Brigade then Colonel Jean-Baptiste-Ambroise

- 1813: Colonel Louis-Antoine Sauset
- 1813: Colonel Jean-Pierre Maury

Flags :
The regiment receives three eagles in 1804, the
one of the 2nd battalion being taken by the Russian at Eylau.
The new flag received in 1812 is embroidered with the battle honour
"ULM AUSTERLITZ IENA EYLAU ECKMUHL ESSLING WAGRAM". and taken
by the Russian at Krasnoië. A new one of the same pattern
is granted on septembre 18th, 1813.
